Virgin is delighted to announce that CSC has been named Technology Partner for the new Virgin Racing Formula 1 team that was launched today by Sir Richard Branson in London.

CSC will provide trackside IT services at all Grand Prix events around the world as well as IT support at Virgin Racing’s UK headquarters. CSC’s partnership with Virgin Racing adds to the company’s existing partnership with other Virgin companies. This includes a £25 Million global IT outsourcing contract with Virgin Atlantic to provide data centre hosting and managed web services in support of Virgin Atlantic’s worldwide operations as well as work with Virgin Media and Virgin Money.

As Virgin Racing’s Technology Partner, CSC staff are being offered the chance to join the Virgin Racing team for the season. This will involve CSC staff working at the team’s UK headquarters as well as touring the world as a member of the Virgin Racing Formula 1 team to set up and run the trackside IT environment at each Grand Prix. Responsibilities will include ensuring all the telemetry systems work - without which the car cannot race - as well as providing core IT such as a network and email in the pit garages.

Alex Tai, Chief Executive Officer, Virgin Racing said: “This partnership builds on our close association with CSC through the expertise and innovation they have shown in providing the latest business and technology solutions for other companies in the Virgin Group. As the official technology partner of Virgin Racing, CSC’s capabilities will be tested to the extreme as they are providing the team’s trackside IT at every Grand Prix”

Nigel Kirkham, Vice President at CSC, responsible for the company’s relationship with the Virgin Group said: “CSC is delighted to be supporting Virgin Racing in their new high profile venture. The expansion of our relationship is a testament to the benefits Virgin are seeing from the latest technology and services through outsourcing to CSC and the confidence they have in us, to deliver to their racing team, reliable and durable IT in the most extreme and diverse conditions.”
