Lopez: We're struggling running 80

José María López is struggling to stay on top in the FIA World Touring Car Championship.

The double champion is 12 points to the good in his pursuit of a third consecutive crown on the back of three Main Race victories this season. However, the Argentine believes regulations requiring him to carry 80 kilograms of compensation weight means he will have an even bigger fight on his hands than normal when battle resumes in Morocco later this week.

“I don’t know much about the track but it’s not the traditional quick and high-speed chicanes like before when you carried a lot of speed through the kerbs,” said the Citroën-driving Argentine. “A street circuit is always difficult, the temperature will be high but it’s a great country and let’s hope we can put out a strong performance again like last year and try to be in front. However, it’s another story this year, we’re struggling running 80 kilograms of compensation weight and we are fighting much harder with the competition.”
