Guerrieri explains WTCC qualifying (...)

Esteban Guerrieri lost out on a sensational debut pole position in the FIA World Touring Car Championship after he failed to stop at the lights controlling the pit lane exit ahead of his flying lap in qualifying. Campos Racing’s Argentine rookie explains what went wrong.

“The thing was I didn’t have neutral all day,” said Guerrieri. “The team said we will put you out when we think the light would go green. I go out and to add to this my radio wasn’t working properly and I couldn’t talk to them but I could hear them. They say go slow, go very slow but I look at the light and it goes green. I was asking why but I had no radio. There was nothing else I could do, I had to go to the limiter again and then when I went to the end of the pits the light came red. And to add to this my garage was at the other end of the pit lane. But it’s like this, they are the rules and we have to accept this.”
