ERC ace Breen confident of Latvia fix

Craig Breen says he’s confident that his Peugeot Rally Academy-Saintéloc team will be able to restore his 207 Super 2000 to full working order during the 15-minute remote service halt in Kuldīga.

Although regulations limit the amount of repairs that can be made using parts carried on board competing cars, Breen said he had every faith that his engineers and technicians could find a solution to enable him to tackle the closing three stages on Rally Liepāja-Ventspils, round two of the FIA European Rally Championship.

“We don’t know exactly what’s happened, something with the electrics,” Breen told ERC Rally Radio’s Chris Rawes. “It’s possibly a wire that’s broken because we were losing a bit of charge towards the end of the last stage. Halfway through we were off one of the cylinders and it started to run quite poorly but we’re fairly confident we can fix it here.”

Of his chances of catching and passing Jari Ketomaa, who now leads by 19.5s, Breen was less optimistic. “It’s not going to happen and we have to be clever now and drive around to get good points. All I want to do is get out of here with a working car. The team are very clever.”
